My lawn mower won’t start!
One of the most common problems is an empty fuel tank – this should have been emptied at the end of last season, but if not it will need replacing Also don’t forget to check the oil and air filters while you’re at it, as these can cause issues with non-starting engines.
Sometimes it is not always something as simple as filling up the fuel tank and that’s when you have to start checking other areas of your mower such as the carburettor. If the engine gets flooded it will mean that you won’t be able to start the mower; an easy way to check is to smell it – a flooded engine will smell of unburned fuel.
Always make sure that you have a look at the underside of your lawn mower as clippings and debris often build up in this area which can cause problems with the performance of your mower. It is also worth checking the blade while you are looking here – if it is bent or broken this can ruin the bearings and mean that you aren’t getting an even cut.
If you are having problems with the ignition it may mean that your spark plugs needs cleaning or replacing. Testing the spark plug lead is also recommended as this often gets over looked and could be the cause of your mower not starting.
It is important to keep up the maintenance on your lawn mower, this way it will perform a lot better and a last much longer. It’s vital that any repairs are carried out by a professional for your own safety, and to give you peace of mind that you’ll have a reliable mower guaranteed to start time and time again.
